Although is isn't unheard of, a white Christmas in Roseville, due to snowfall, is very, very rare, as it only snows here maybe one every five years, and then the accumulation is only an inch or snow and melts away in a few hours. We've lived in Roseville since 1999, and it's only snowed once, and the snow only stayed on the ground for an hour or snow before it was washed away by rain. We are blessed with a rather mild climate, as I've checked the weather reports and the lowest temperature ever recorded here is 16 degrees, farenheit. However, when the dewpoint hovers near 90%, and it's foggy and 35 degrees outside, it can get mighty cold in Roseville, at the base of the fabulous Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Right: Inside our house, it's a pleasant 68 degrees, but Malichai seems to feel the need to wrap himself in a blanket, as he relaxes on my chair. Tuesday, December 6, 2005, I got up early, way too early, to take a few photos, as the temperature dropped to a chilly 29.5 degrees farenheit, just before sunrise. Our house and neighborhood was coated by a layer of white frost, which is about the best simulation of a white Christmas that Roseville can offer. So much to the amazement of my neighbors, I was up early, snapping photos around the neighborhood, of a white December in Roseville.

Photo: December 6, 2005 at 0700 in the morning, with the temperature at 29 degrees finds frost on our lawn and our roof, as well as the lawn and roof of our next door neighbors. This is about as close as Roseville can get to a white Christmas, as it hasn't snowed in Roseville on Christmas since who knows when, certainly since 1999.
