Saturday, November 3, 2007 started out as a girls-only party, but since I live here, by default, I had to attend. Normally, when the girls get together, I manage to take a 4-wheeling trip, or I seem to be misplaced in Mexico, but on this occasion, I had no choice, as I was out of vacation time.  Normally, when the girls have a get-together at our house, I perform cooking, barkeeper chores and cleanup duties, but more than that,  I'm a loyal and a well-trained husband.  This party was different, as at the last moment, Kelly, a longtime friend of Sharlene phoned us to let us know that her boyfriend, Dan was in town and... could he come to the party?  Well, that changed the dynamics of the whole thing, and finally, I was invited to attend as a full-fledged guest and better yet, I was able to unleash the voracious appetite of my digital camera.

Sharlene's long-time friends Kelly Pappas and Pam Wilson came to our our house, along with Kelly's lovely daughter Nicole, who I've almost adopted as my "second daughter,"  and Kelly's boyfriend, Dan, who currently lives north of us, in Redding.  Naturally, or daughter Casey attended, along with long time family friend, and girlfriend of Sharlene, Carol Silva.  So Dan and I were the only guys, surrounded in a house filled with beautiful women... Wow!

What kind of cuisine do you serve when you have such a diverse group of people, dominated by beautiful women? Sharlene's American Tacos, and my Mexican Posole, of course, as these foods are real crowd pleasers, and could be considered "comfort food" to just about anyone.  OK, not everybody north of the border is a fan of posole, but once you taste it, you're a fan for the rest of your life!

Early in the evening, I opened up our full-service bar, which sets up shop on the island in our kitchen, where I prepare drinks on demand.  Whatever drink our guests desire, I'm able to provide, as I maintain all of the ingredients for any drink on the extensive menu.  Our guests seem to prefer margaritas, strawberry daiquiris, mai tais, sex on the beach, and my favorite, a vodka martini, shaken, not stirred, in the true James Bond style.  When we have guests at our house, the bar is always open and I'm always the bartender.

Our guests showed up around six in the evening, and the party really got started around seven, when the posole was finished, and the bar openened for the night.  We enjoyed an evening of great conversation, outstanding food, and wonderful drinks, thans to me, Eric, the author of the article, and the bartender.

Dan and I enjoyed the posole, but the girls seemed to prefer Sharlene's American Tacos; click on the link for our recipe.  All of us enjoyed the bar, the food, the company, and all of had an outstanding evening.

Photo:  Dinner for everyone, except for me, the webmaster, as I take the photo.  We enjoyed a wonderful evening in the company of family and friends.

Sharlene and her girlfriends had intended the evening to be a "girl's night out" at home, but it turned out to be a full-fledged party.  Not a problem, as it was a fun night for all of us...
