Sunday, May 20, 2007, our soon-to-be son-in-law Tim's aunt Karrie was married, and since Tim's family is now our family, and we are all friends, Sharlene and I were invited to attend the wedding. Karrie has been over to our house many times, and she's always admired the photos that I've taken at family functions. So when she asked me if I'd be the "official" photographer at her wedding, I jumped at the chance, as we really like her and a DVD full of candid photos would make a very fine wedding gift, that she and her husband, Mike, will probably cherish for years to come.
Left: Karrie's friend and business partner, Kathy, volunteered the use of her home for Karrie's wedding. The photo shows her in her kitchen, tending to one of the thousands of things she did to make this affair work. Right: The wedding party.
Left: The groom, Mike to the extreme left of the photo looks on as Rory, Karrie's son, gives his mom away, while the minister's head is to extreme right of the photo. Right: Mike and Karrie, as a 1-minute-old couple, gaze into each other's eyes. Oh, how romantic! The wedding was an outdoor affair, and it took place in the back yard of Karrie's friend and business partner Kathy's beautiful estate, in Penryn, located in a very wooded and rural section of western Placer County, California. The wedding was attended by around 70 wonderful people, and featured a beautiful arch, great food, lots of beverages, including lots of beer, and a disk jockey who had a huge selection of our favorite pop and country songs. The outdoor deck made and excellent dance floor, and the tasteful decorations made for a festive occasion.
Left: "Now, you may kiss the bride..." Right: The new Ogle family, left to right: Karrie's son Rory, Karrie, Mike, and Karrie's daughter Rianna.
Left: Oh boy! The chow line is in progress! Right: Karrie hugs and does the typical newlywed thing as Mike looks on. We were concerned that the weather would be hot, as it often is in late May, but Mother Nature cooperated with Karrie's wedding plans by giving her a cloudless day, with a high temperature of only 86 degrees. Despite the mild weather, those who wore suits were hot, and all coats and many ties were shed following the ceremony. Since the back is surrounded by tall shade trees, it wasn't a problem to find a shady spot to relax, and enjoy the company of friends and family.
Left: Members of Karrie's family gather after the wedding and enjoy each other's company. Right: Kathy is "Johnny-on-the-spot" as she carries champagne to the outdoor tables before the wedding toast.
Left: The best man, sans his suit, but still sporting his tie, proposes the wedding toast, as stoic Mike looks on and Karrie giggles... Right: Mike and Karrie cut the wedding cake. After the ceremony concluded, and the "formal" photos were taken, it was off to the chow and drink line, and time to kick off your shoes and take your turn on the dance floor. Since I was the "official" photographer, I kept myself busy, taking photos of everybody, and everything, and I was definitely "Johnny-on-the-spot" with my ever-present digital camera. All in all, I took around 760 photos and by time I edited out the out of focus, missed shots and all of the junk, I had a little over 600 photos to copy on a DVD for Mike and Karrie's wedding gift from me. Despite the fact that I was extremely busy taking photos of all of the action, my duties didn't curtail my main hobby, and that's the hobby of flirting with beautiful women.
Left: Family members relax and chit-chat after enjoying wedding cake. Right: Mike and Karrie's first dance together, as husband and wife.
Left: After Mike and Karrie's first dance, many others join in on the dance floor. Right: Karries tosses her wedding bouquet and it landed in the hands of Nicole Pappas, who just happens to be a bridesmaid in Casey's wedding in June. Hmmmmm.... Looking back at the wedding, I think the funniest moment was when they were just about ready to say "I do," and airplane flew overhead, and nothing, I mean nothing, could be heard, as the airplane was a larger piston-driven airplane. The minister stopped the ceremony, and everybody just sat and laughed until the airplane flew away. I also got a kick out of the butt-to-butt grinding dancing, and I couldn't help to set my camera aside and do a grind with Deb, Tim's mom, to the tune of "Billie Jean."
Left: All bets were off near the end of the day, as the bridesmaids shed their dresses and kicked it up on the dance floor. Right: Near the center of the photo, Deb seems to be the center of attention. Oh baby! It was a fun, wonderful experience for everybody, and a dress rehearsal for us, in Casey's upcoming wedding this June. We wish Mike and Karrie a very happy life together!
