Friday, December 23, 2011, the Sacramento Breakfast Club held our last meeting of the year at the Auburn Breakfast Club... with a name like that, how could we pass on meeting at this restaurant?

Photo:  Breakfast Club meets Breakfast Club... what could be better?  Auburn Breakfast Club is located in a small shopping center, on the north side of busy Interstate 80.  I find the sign "Restaurant" interesting... a.k.a. "Seinfelt?" Actually, this is a better photo of my 1996 Toyota Camry than the restaurant...

Photo:  Auburn Breakfast Club is not a large restaurant, as I'm standing at the entrance of the restaurant, and the photo shows much of the dining room, although there is a section to the right of the photo, which is not shown. The dining room features a mixutre of booths and tables, and with the help of our friendly hostess Lisa, we were able to push four table together to accommodate our group of ten today.  If you look closesly, you'll see a St. Louis Rams football helmet behind Lisa... Northern California is definitely 49'ers and Raiders territory!  I asked Lisa about he Rams gear, and she said the owner is a Rams fan.

Photo:  Lisa places a biscuit and a side of gravy on the table beside Betty.  The menu at Auburn Breakfast Club offers a wide variety of breakfast choices... they have sandwiches, salads, burgers and other delights for lunch as well.  With a name like Auburn Breakfast Club, you know they're serious about breakfast!

Photo:  I agonized between chicken fried steak or linguica and eggs, and the linguica won out.  I enjoyed a GIGANTIC piece of linguica, perfectly cooked home style potatoes, two eggs over easy, and a biscuit covered with some of the best sausage gravy that I've every had the pleasure to enjoy.  Note the chunks of sausage in the gravy... all of our club members commented on the gravy.  If for no other reason, a visit to Auburn Breakfast Club can be justified, due to their delicious gravy!  The food is delicious, the price is reasonable, and the portions are HUGE!!!

Photo:  Todays members of the Sacramento Breakfast Club, from left to right:  Tessa McCloud, Gerry Townsend, Betty Townsend, Sara Donnelly, Matt Donnelly, Dan MacLeod, Bev MacLeod, David DeMario, Eric Rench, and Teri McCloud.  Today, we welcomed Tessa and Teri as new members of our club.

By the time we were ready to leave, the modest dining room at Auburn Breakfast Club was nearly full.  Despite the fact that the restaurant is located just a block north of I-80, it doesn't cater to the freeway crowd, but it does cater to the tastes of Auburn locals.  So if you want a "taste of Auburn," the Auburn Breakfast Club is the place to visit, as the food is good, the people are friendly, the price is right, and the portions are huge.  Auburn Breakfast Club definitely lives up to it's name...
