At the last meeting of the Sacramento Breakfast Club, I looked at the rotation sheet and I noted that it was David's turn to choose the location of the next meeting.  For David, it wasn't a problem, as he'd already scoped out Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar, as it's close to where he lives, and it's a favorite hangout place for the neighborhood locals.  Friday morning, September 20, 2013, we held our bi-monthly meeting at Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar.

Photo:  Rivers Edge Café offers comfortable indoor dining, and when weather permits. offers a large, expanded patio dining section.  All you have to do is look for the many blue umbrellas to find the restaurant.

Photo:  The newly redecorated dining room is comfortable, and offers a great mixture of table, and booth seating. For our group today, all we had to do was to scoot a couple of tables together to comfortably seat all of us.  The dining room features many televisions, which, this time of year, are tuned to a football game in progress, or, on this Friday morning, a recap of the previous night's game.

Photo:  Our friendly server, Andreea, takes Sara's order, as husband Matt looks on.  Photo shows the floor-to-ceiling windows which offer plenty of natural lighting.  From a photographer's prospective, it's nice, as no flash is need to get a great photo.

Photo:  Andreea places Dan's order of a Hangover II on the table.  Dan and I ordered the same breakfast, but I ordered my eggs over easy, Navy style, and he preferred them over medium, Air Force style.

Photo:  So, you ask, what is a Hangover II breakfast?  Glad you asked, as it's the Hangover, with a couple of eggs added, cooked any way you like them, in my case, fried, over easy.  So you start with two in-house made biscuits, and cover them with creamy, delicious, sausage gravy.  Delicious.  However, it gets better, as you add a order of stuffed hash brown potatoes.  Stuffed hash brown potatoes start out as a giant order of hash brown potatoes, which are pre-cooked on the griddle.  Diced sausage, bacon, cheese and sour cream is added, then the potatoes are folded over, and grilled to perfection, and a golden brown.  Top all this goodness with a couple of fried eggs, and you have the Hangover II, which is a breakfast that will keep breakfast lovers coming back forever.

So now we have to discuss the post-mortem meeting in the parking lot... of course the MAJOR topic of discussion was the stuffed hash brown potatoes.  Where else in town can you find stuffed hash brown potatoes?  The hash brown potatoes are stuffed with bacon, cheese, sausage and sour cream, and alone, are worth the price of admission to the restaurant.  It was a forgone conclusion in our parking lot meeting that we LOVE Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar... for the friendly service, the comfortable decor, and the great food... oh, did I forget? ... the stuffed hash brown potatoes...
