Sometimes, when you're in the mood for a pizza, dining at a restaurant just doesn't fit the moment, as for many reasons, in-home dining works much better.  Takeout, curbside pick-up or delivery may be a better option at the time, but besides the delivery option, a delicious pizza is a must-have for a perfect in-home dining experience.  If that's what you're looking for, and you're in the Stockton, CA area, than Pizza Guys, located on West Lane is your go-to pizza restaurant.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  The West Lane location of Pizza Guys is located in a newer strip mall, at the corner of West and East Hammer Lanes, in Stockton, CA.  It's a little before noon on Tuesday, December 01, 2020, and I've arrived at Pizza Guys, during today's "grand opening," to enjoy a large "Pizza Guys Combo," pizza, "on the house," thanks to the generosity of the owner, Abe Mohammed, and the Yelp "foodie" website.  The restaurant has been open since mid-November, when they opened their door to a "soft opening."

Since I'm a "foodie" and I publish many Yelp reviews of my restaurant adventures, I've been rewarded with the status of "elite" member of the Yelp community, which yields certain perks.  A couple weeks ago I received an email from Yelp inviting me to visit the West Lane location of Pizza Guys, and I'd receive a large "Specialty Pizza," any variety, "on the house," courtesy of Pizza Guys and Yelp.  How could I resist a free pizza?

Photo:  Like all Pizza Guys restaurants - most restaurants are franchises - there is no dining room, as the business is modeled on takeout, curbside pickup or delivery, which is perfect during these days of the COVID-19 virus.  Ordering is accomplished online, by telephone, or by walk-up.  If you do walk-up, you'll notice the menu above the cashier's station, where you place your order and pay for it.

The menu, above the cashier's station, is mostly "window dressing," as most orders are processed online.

Photo:  The friendly owner of the restaurant, Abe Mohammed, and equally friendly Jordan, check my order, even though it was "on the house."

How did I get a free pizza?  I confirmed to Yelp by return email that I would be present to pick up my pizza, and my name was forwarded to the restaurant. I requested, and was given a "window" between 11:00 and 2:00 to place my order, and pick up my pizza.  When I arrived at the restaurant, I called them, told them I was a "Yelper," and told them my name.  They asked which "Specialty Pizza" I wanted - that was the offer - and if I wanted it delivered or picked up curbside.  Since I was taking photos for this article, I told them I was picking it up in person, so I could take photos! They said they'd send me a text when the pizza was ready, which they said should take about 20 minutes.

Photo:  A peek over the counter gives you a view of the spotless kitchen where all the pizza goodness comes from. After enjoying such a great pizza "on the house," now I can say, "I'm a Pizza Guy!"

Photo:  The "grand opening" flyer advertises some of the menu choices, and "contactless" delivery, curbside pickup and carryout options.

Photo:  The flip side of the flyer shows the restaurant's menu.  Most Pizza Guys restaurants are  franchise, and menus vary slightly between restaurants.  The West Lane location, and all the other Pizza Guy restaurants in Stockton are owned by the same owner.

Photo:  Meet the friendly owner of this location of Pizza Guys, Abe Mohammed, along with the equally friendly cashier, Jordan, as they present my "Pizza Guy's Combo" to me with a smile.  The box advertises the pizza is "artisan made" and since you're enjoying the pizza, it makes you a "Pizza Guy."  Thanks for the pizza!

About 20 minutes after placing my order, I received a text, letting me know my order was ready for pickup.  That's great service, and exactly as advertised.  Of course I opted to pick up my order inside the store, so I could take photos, meet the staff, and post an article on this website, and, of course, Yelp.

Thanks to Abe, along with the Yelp community for the generous gift of this delicious pizza.

Photo:  I remove my mask and smile, as I hold up my large "Pizza Guys Combo" pizza, that I so graciously received, thanks to the generosity of Abe, Pizza Guys, and the Yelp website.

Photo:  From the "Home of the Specialty Pizzas" section of the pizza menu, I ordered a large "Pizza Guys Combo," which seemed like the perfect place to start, when dining at a new restaurant.  The menu describes the combo as, "Signature red tomato sauce on our original crust, topped with Mozzarella cheese, salami, pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, yellow onions, beef and Italian sausage."  That's a lot of goodness on a large pizza!

I picked up my pizza, in-person, from the store, and as I drove home, I was treated to the wonderful aroma of this delicious pizza.  I couldn't wait to get home, to see if this pizza tasted as good as it smelled!  I was not disappointed...

The foundation of every great pizza is the crust, and the crust at Abe's Pizza Guys didn't disappoint, as it was perfectly baked, lightly seasoned with butter and garlic, crusty on the outside - where it is supposed to be "crusty" and tender where the crust is supposed to be tender.  A great crust like this makes for a great pizza, and that's what you get when you order a "specialty pizza" at Pizza Guys.

All toppings were fresh, arranged perfectly, and in ample quantity.  Pizza Guys doesn't skimp on toppings, and I noted a perfect vegetable-to-meat ratio, which is crucial to a great pizza.  The toppings met the crust perfectly, thanks to the tangy red tomato sauce, and the stringy, melted Mozzarella cheese, which provided lots of robust flavor, and made the delicious pizza complete.  One bite into a piece of this amazing pizza was a "pizza taste sensation," as this is delicious pizza!

It's been quite some time since I've dined at home and feasted on takeout pizza , as I prefer to dine-in, so enjoying a delicious Pizza Guys pizza at home was a different dining experience for me.  Ordering was seamless, pickup was easy, and Abe and his staff treated me like family.  Not to mention the pizza was simply delicious!

When you feel like staying home, and enjoying fresh, "artisan made" pizza, think of Pizza Guys, located on West Lane, in Stockton, CA to satisfy your craving for delicious pizza.
