Original Perry's Coffee Shop is a family-style restaurant that caters to the taste of locals, and truck drivers, and has been a Sacramento landmark for many years.  It's family-oriented restaurant, which features a wide menu selection, a folksy dining area, comfortable atmosphere, great food at reasonable prices, served by some of the most efficient and friendly staff that we've ever had the pleasure to encounter during our quest to enjoy the best breakfast cuisine that Sacramento has to offer.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  The front cover of the menu at Original Perry's Coffee Shop sports the following slogan:  "Old fashioned restaurant since 1968.  Imitated, never duplicated.  Local, and proud of it."  That statement pretty well sums up the mission of Original Perry's, as Original Perry's Coffee Shop is a landmark restaurant, located on the south side of Sacramento, CA.

Today is Monday, November 06, 2017, we're hungry and we're ready to enjoy a great meal at Original Perry's!

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you're greeted by a friendly staff member - who also handles register duties - who will set you at a comfortable booth, and shortly you'll be greeted by your server.  Note the long counter, as Perry's is open 24/7, and located next to a truck stop, so a counter is exactly what you'd expect.

Photo:  The restaurant was pleasantly not-too-crowded on this November morning in early November.  Behind the counter, you can see the window to the kitchen, and the four clocks - one for each Continental U.S.A. time zone - on the wall above the kitchen.

Photo:  Ordering from Original Perry's extensive menu could be somewhat challenging, as the menu features a wide selection.  In keeping with the restaurant's format, the menu seems to cater to locals, families and truckers, and includes an outstanding array of good ol' American classics, also known as "comfort food."  This is only one page of the breakfast menu, and I settled on the "Iowa Style Breaded Pork Breakfast," as that's a classic breakfast dish that I've never seen served anywhere else in Sacramento, or California for that matter.  I must admit the "Driver's Breakfast" really tugged at my heart strings - or should I say my stomach? - but the "Iowa Style" breakfast won out.

The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Perry, grew up in Mason City, Iowa, and he brought Iowa cuisine to California, which is a definitely positive "cultural exchange."

The restaurant is open 24/7/365, so anything on the menu is available any time.  I love it!

Photo:  View of the counter, and the main dining room, from the rear of the restaurant.  The furniture is mostly upholstered booths, and the dining room is very clean and comfortable.

Photo:  The window to the kitchen is located behind the counter, in the center, and is very active on this Monday morning.  Note the four clocks above the counter - one clock for each time zone in the continental United States - and the clock that reads, "Original Perry's," which would be for local time, in the Pacific Time Zone.

Photo:  Our hostess, Denise, stretches, and reaches to deliver breakfast to our table.

Photo:  My wife is camera shy, so here I am, ready to enjoy my "Iowa Style Breaded Pork Breakfast."

Photo:  Sharlene ordered a half soup and salad.  The toast in the foreground is actually mine.  Since Original Perry's Coffee Shop is open 24/7, anything on the menu can be ordered at any time, which makes it great if you can't decide between breakfast or lunch.

Photo:  My "Iowa Style Breaded Pork Breakfast" is a massive plate of food, worthy of those who enjoy breakfast, "Iowa style," and for those, like me, who have a massive breakfast appetite.

The breakfast starts with not one, but TWO pieces of deep fried, breaded pork which are sitting a layer of delicious gravy.  If that wasn't enough, you get three eggs cooked to your liking - over easy for me - hash brown potatoes that overflow the plate, two pieces of toast, and a small side of applesauce.

Such an amazing breakfast!  If you're not filled up after eating this monster plate of "Iowa style" cooked goodness, I really don't know what will fill you up...

Since the primary mission of Original Perry's is a truck stop coffee shop, the restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and breakfast is served anytime.  That's a huge plus, for breakfast lovers, 24/7/365.  We can't give a breakfast a higher rating than the Iowa-style breakfast we enjoyed at Original Perry's Coffee Shop.  Original Perry's is a highly recommend restaurant by Eric and Sharlene, confirmed "foodies..."
