El Azteca Taqueria in west Roseville, CA serves some of the finest and most authentic Mexican cuisine that you can find north of the border.
Both photos: El Azteca Taqueria, from the outside, fine Mexican food in Roseville. Since the restaurant is located in a shopping center, there is ample parking. While the wife is shopping, its nice to duck inside for a cold Pacifico beer...
El Azteca is located in a typical suburban shopping center, at Foothills Bvd. and Baseline Road, in west Roseville, adjacent to a major grocery store. Looking at the place from the outside, it looks like just another strip-mall restaurant, in Anytown, U.S.A. But wait! When you step inside, everything changes and Anytown, U.S.A. instantly vanishes, as you're instantly transported to Mexico. You notice the delicious, earthy smell, the tile floors, the rustic Mexican decor, the traditional Mexican music, the happy conversation in Spanish, the... well...atmosphere. Just by walking in the door, you're in a different world. Since I speak enough Spanish to get by, I leave my English at the door.
Left: Our friendly server brings us our delicious food. Right: El Azteca features a full service bar with every Mexican beverage that you could wish for. I wish that at the time of this writing, that I had owned a better camera. You notice the menu is posted above the cashier's station. So you pick what you want, order it, pay for it and receive a coupon. Then, you pick a table and you wait for your order to arrive. However, it's not an idle wait as you're provided with freshly made tortilla chips and mouth-watering salsa. Not to mention that ESPN is featured on the digital tv screens above the bar, so you can watch the game while you sip an icy-cold Pacifico beer. And, then there's always the "banda" music to listen to. Not to mention that the staff and the patrons are friendly. This is a place that you can linger at for hours...
Left: The bar is a place to linger at hour hours. Right: Traditional Mexican decor is featured at El Azteca. Simply stated, the food is excellent. Where else in Roseville, or Anytown U.S.A. can you purchase a taco de cabeza or a taco de tripa? I am a frequent patron of this place, since I LOVE Mexican food, and El Azteca is located less than a mile from our house.
Left: A combination dinner with all the fixin's. Right: Tacos de cabeza and tacos de pescado are on my plate. It was interesting to note that when I last visited El Azteca and was taking pictures for this article, the girl at the cashier's station asked me "Why are you taking so many pictures?" I replied that I was doing a review for my website, and she just sort of looked at me in an interesting way. So, I left her a business card and, well, the rest is history.
