Late Wednesday afternoon, September 12, 2012, after checking into my hotel room, it was time to take a stroll on the Malecon, and enjoy fish tacos, which is a San Felipe favorite.  My nose led me to Rice and Beans, which offers a complete seafood menu, rice, beans, and of course...fish tacos!

Photo:  On this late Wednesday afternoon in early September, Av. Malecon is practically deserted of locals and tourists, which surprised me, due to the gorgeous, sunny and not-too-hot weather.  Photo was taken at 1730 in the afternoon, and the temperature was around 95 degrees.

Photo:  Rice and Beans offers a full-service bar, and "sports bar" decor, and a comfortable, air conditioned indoor dining room.  Air conditioning is nice, but I prefer to dine outside...  Note the menu posted above the bar, to the left of the photo.  Rice and Beans is a "sit down" restaurant, and they have a printed menu.  It was interesting to note that Rock 'n Roll music, from the 1960's, was playing softly in the background.

Photo:  Among other amenities, Rice and Beans offers comfortable, outdoor dining under their shady veranda, with a breathtaking view of the Sea of Cortez.  It's a perfect place to enjoy chips and salsa, drink beer, gaze at the scenery, and watch pretty girls walk by.

Photo:  My friendly waiter, Arturo, places my order of two fish tacos on the table.  Note the beach scenery and the Sea of Cortez in the background... this veranda is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious dinner.  The menu is posted outside the restaurant on the sidewalk.

Photo:  Arturo was kind enough to snap my photo as  I sit at the table, under the shady veranda, and get ready to enjoy delicious fish tacos.  Much to my surprise, during my hour or so visit to the restaurant, I was the only customer.

Photo:  Rice and Beans serves delicious fish tacos!  Each taco was wrapped in one, thick, lightly toasted corn tortilla - which didn't break - and was garnished with chopped tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, cabbage, and crema.  Chips and salsa were included with the meal, at no charge.  The price of the complete meal, including two Tecate beers, was MEX $90.00, which was a tad on the high side, but still a decent value, as the food was good, the beer was cold, and the scenery - both "natural" and "human" - was outstanding.

Despite the fact that Rice and Beans is located along the Malecon, which is the tourist hang-out in San Felipe, the restaurant has many locals as regulars, the food is inexpensive, and it's as good as it gets in San Felipe.  Rice and Beans serves great food, offers relaxing dining with a beautiful view, and is a great restaurant.  I highly recommend dining at Rice and Beans.
