Welcome to the Boarding House Restaurant, located in the fabulous Pioneer Hotel/Casino in friendly, relaxed, Laughlin, Nevada, where you can enjoy a delicious, all-you-can-eat buffet dinner at a rock-bottom price, which will leave a smile on your face and many spare dollars left in your wallet.

Sorry, due to casino protocol, there are no photos included in this article.  Pioneer casino, and all other casinos in Nevada, aren't photo-friendly...

When you think of "casino buffet food," what comes to your mind?  Cheap eats?  Huge selection?  All you can eat of whatever is offered?  Pick what you want and eat all that you want?  Boarding House Restaurant, a 24/7 buffet restaurant, located in the Pioneer Hotel/Casino will satisfy the aforementioned questions.  It features good food, staffed by friendly people, in an attractive and spotlessly clean dining room.  True, "casino buffet food" is institutional food, some of which are catered by institutional giants such as Sysco, but the food at Boarding House is attractively presented, satisfying to the taste, and if you go away hungry, it's your fault, not the fault of the restaurant.

We first sampled the Boarding House Restaurant on a Friday night, where they feature a Friday night buffet, where the feature presentation is prime rib, for the unbelievable price of only $12.95!  Naturally the draw is their prime rib, cooked to perfection, and cut to your specifications by a friendly server who was happy to converse with Jerry and I in Spanish,  which makes the experience a lot more fun.  Of course you can come back for seconds, or thirds... or as many times as your stomach will allow.  If their succulent prime rib isn't your thing, you're free to choose from whole crab legs, fresh fish, peel and eat shrimp, fried chickn, barbecue pork ribs, and a whole lot more for your meat dishes.  Side dish choices seem almost endless, as there are many potato, bean and pasta sides to choose from, plus an array of cooked vegetables.  If that isn't enough, you can help yourself to their soup and salad bar, which features fresh fruits and vegetables, and rivals or surpasses the best salad bar found anywhere.  Don't forget to help yourself to the freshly-baked rolls, offered with real butter.

Boarding House also features a wide selection of pastries, cakes, pies, cookies, and ice cream, but I didn't even bother to go to that buffet, as I'm more of a "meat and potatoes guy," and I save the desert for the ladies.  All of the above for only $12.95 puts the Friday night prime rib buffet at the top of my list.

We also had the pleasure to at Boarding House Restaurant on Sunday night, where the feature a Sunday dinner, old fashioned buffet, which they advertise as "A salute to the western tradition of the Sunday Supper, the kind that Grandma used to make and you don't have to."  OK, this is another outstanding buffet, featuring the usual soup and salad bar, pastries and deserts.  Main dish entrées consist of fried chicken, meat loaf, freshly carved roast beef, turkey breast, spaghetti, meatballs, sausage, meat loaf, and other fine dishes too numerous to mention.  Of course there are many types of potatoes, including mashed (of course!) baked, homestyle, and many more that I can't remember.  How many kinds of rice and beans do you like, as Boarding House has many to choose from.  If all of that wasn't enough, the Sunday supper features a taco bar, where you can create your dream taco.  All of this good food, all you can eat, for the inexpensive price of $8.95!  What a bargain, as the Boarding House Restaurant beats anything that we've experienced in Reno or Las Vegas.

During our four night stay at the Pioneer Hotel/Casino in Laughlin, we ate at the Boarding House Restaurant twice, which equates to 50% of our evenings at the Pioneer.  Boarding House Restaurant serves an outstanding buffet, at an unbelievably low price.  When you're visiting Laughlin, and you have an appetite, a visit to the Boarding House is a must.  Highly recommended!
