Vehicle trouble happens, and it really messes up your schedule when you're 1,200 miles away from home!  Such was my case as I visited Amarillo, Texas, but as my truck was being fixed, my burdens were lifted, as I enjoyed a burger, onion rings at Blue Sky Texas, in Amarillo, Texas.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's just past 11 in the morning - opening time for Blue Sky Texas - on Monday, September 10, 2018, and I'm in the mood for a cheeseburger, onion rings, and a cold Shiner beer at Blue Sky Texas, on Coulter Street in Amarillo.

Photo:  The dining room is HUGE, and it's decorated with everything Texas, and features television monitors playing sports.  I walked in just after the restaurant opened, and the dining room was sparsely seated, but by the time I left, an hour or so later, the dining room was packed.  Blue Sky Texas is noted for their hamburgers and cheeseburgers, and I came to check that out for myself.

Photo:  Blue Sky Texas in Amarillo, specializes in beer and pub-style food, including burgers, dogs, salads, sandwiches and more.

The format is that you grab a menu as you enter the restaurant and make your selection.  Then, you walk up to the counter, place your order and pay for it.  If you're feeling "tipsy," there is a tip jar on the counter so you can give a gratuity to the friendly staff.  You'll receive a receipt with your order number, and when your order is ready, a board above the counter will flash your number, then you walk up to the counter and pick up your order.

Photo:  Another view of the main dining room, taken from the front of the room, which is opposite of the order counter.  The tee shirts hanging from the ceiling are for sale, as they're souvinirs of the restaurant, with the logo of the restaurant printed on the shirts.

Photo:  The printed menu that you pick up as you enter the restaurant.  You look at the menu and make up your mind before you place your order at the order window.  The first items on the menu are burgers, and I never got past the burgers, as I hadn't had a burger for a few days.

Photo:  After placing my order, I wandered around the restaurant, checking this out and taking photos.  Adjoining the main dining room is a much small, semi-private dining room where only one table was seated on this late Monday morning.

Photo:  My friendly server, Stevi, mentioned to me there was a patio, with a sandbox of all things, so I went outside to check it out.  If you have kids, this may be your ideal choice, as there are patio tables and a large sandbox, complete with toys, for your children to enjoy while you enjoy your meal.

Photo:  If you peek around the order counter, you can get a view of the kitchen.

Photo:  Meet my friendly server/counter person, Stevi, who handed my a truly ice-cold Shiner beer, in a truly frosted mug, before my order arrived, with a smile.  If you're not familiar with Shiner beer, it's also known as Shiner Bok and it's brewed in Shiner, Texas, which isn't exactly local to Amarillo, but it's still in Texas.

Photo:  I was dazzled and amazed by the amount, and the variety of condiments available on the order counter. Feel free to grab the condiment of your choice, bring it to your table and enjoy...

Photo:  An order for another customer was flashed on the order board, but since I was loitering around the counter, I couldn't resist snapping a photo.

Photo:  After my number was posted, I snapped a photo of Stevi, her boss, and my order, ready for me to pick it up. The staff at Blue Sky Texas, in Amarillo, is super friendly, and photos are encouraged.  Did I mention the atmosphere or the fine restaurant is super friendly, both in staff and fellow diners?

Photo:  Thanks, Stevi, for taking my photo, as I pick up my order of a cheeseburger and onion rings, with a smile on my face.  I know I'm ready to enjoy one of the best burgers in Amarillo.

Photo:  Cheeseburger, onion rings, Shiner Bok beer and hot sauce make for an amazing lunch.

Photo:  I have difficulty is reviewing THE BEST cheeseburger in Amarillo, as I haven't eaten all the cheeseburgers in Amarillo, no can I really judge what cheeseburger is best, as I have never met a cheeseburger that I didn't fall in love with.  But, many Amarillo "foodies" have said that Blue Sky Texas makes the best cheeseburger in town, and I can only say that I absolutely loved my burger and onion rings.  Oh yes, the Shiner beer was delicious!

The cheeseburger was a large ground chuck patty, grilled perfectly, and included cheese - of course - shredded lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion.  There wasn't any mayo or mustard, as it wasn't needed, as anything additional would have only masked the goodness of this wonderful burger.  You could actually taste, savor and enjoy the melted cheese!  My, my, my... this was a delicious cheeseburger!

Great onion rings which didn't require any ketchup to enjoy.  I dipped a couple of them in ketchup, then discarded the ketchup, as the onion rings were just TOO good to dip in ketchup!  Quite a meal...

I note many Amarillo food critics have rated Blue Sky Texas' burgers as the best in town, and I don't know if I can say THE best - I haven't sampled many burgers in Amarillo - but I can say that their burger is definitely delicious.  I loved the burger, the onion rings, the "sports pub" atmosphere, and the friendly, Texas, hospitality.

Blue Sky Texas should definitely be on your "burger" list when you're visiting Amarillo.
