Are you visiting Elk City, Oklahoma, but you long for a visit to Mexico, or you're in the mood for and delicious, authentic Mexican dinner? You're in luck, as you don't have to travel to Mexico, and in Elk City, all you have to do it take a short drive down historic Route 66 to Pedro's Mexican Grill, and you have both your Mexican, and Route 66 bases covered.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little past 6 in the early evening of Wednesday, September 12, 2018, and I'm at Pedro's Mexican Grill in Elk City, Oklahoma, and I'm in the mood for a great Mexican dinner.  After enjoying my wonderful dinner, I realized that I came to the right restaurant.

Photo:  Pedro's Mexican Grill is very large... almost HUGE, which surprised me for a small 20,000 population town like Elk City.  There are three dining rooms.  When you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly greeter, who will greet and seat you.  Normally when I dine solo, I sit at the bar, but tonight, I was seated in the small dining room.  Photo shows the meeter/greeter as she's waiting to seat other customers.  On this early Wednesday evening, this fine restaurant was a busy place.

Photo:  The main dining room is absolute HUGE and very spacious.  Unlike many Mexican restaurants - I confess Pedro's is the first Mexican restaurant I've ever enjoyed in Oklahoma - the staff is not Latino, and I didn't hear a word of Spanish spoken.  However the food is pure "Mexican Sonoran cuisine," like in the Mexican state of Sonora.

Photo:  When you walk through the main dining room, you will enter another dining room, much more "intimate," complete with soft lighting and a full-service bar.

Photo:  The dinner menu is very extensive and features all of your Mexican favorites.  On the right hand side of the menu, at the top is #27, where my taste buds lingered, and finally settled.

Photo:  I was fortunate to be served by Brooke, who brought a Dos XX beer, a bowl of chips, along with salsa to my table, with a huge smile.

Photo:  My bowl of chips, in-house made salsa, and an ice-cold Dos XX beer, complete with a wedge of lime.  Boy, do I ever love Mexican beer!

Photo:  After placing my order, I took a peek around the restaurant, and was rewarded with a very limited view into the kitchen.  Well, sort of...

Photo:  Only TEN MINUTES after placing my order, my friendly server, Brooke, arrive with my order, and a smile on her face.  Brooke is a nice person who is very friendly, and loves to chat, as her duties and time permit, and took great care of me, always with a smile on her face.

Photo:  Thanks, Brooke, for taking my photo, as I'm ready enjoy my delicious dinner at Pedro's Mexican Restaurant. I have a lot to eat... main dish, tortillas, chips, salsa, and a Dos XX beer, but that's just the reason I came to Elk City...  to enjoy.

Photo:  From the menu, I ordered #27, which is "Carne A La Mexicana."  Yes, it's grilled meat, and a whole lot more...

As I mentioned, my dinner arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes after placing my order, so I was barely working into my chips, salsa, and my first beer.  No worries, as when the pace is fast, I simply slow down.

The menu describes my dinner choice as "Hand cut, house marinated steak or chicken, served with Mexican-style potatoes, garnished with salad, pico de gallo and guacamole.  Served with our famous homemade tortillas. I chose steak, as Oklahoma is cattle country, and steak rules the prairies!

The steak was so tender you didn't need a knife, as you could just slice it with your fork.  Yes, it was marinated to perfection and savory-juicy.  The potatoes were perfect, and the refried beans, not mentioned on the menu, were a welcome surprise.  Pedro's makes the corn tortillas in-house, and they were warm, toasted and just delicious in every way.

Photo:  I wasn't driving, as I was staying only a couple of blocks from Pedro's, so midway through my delicious dinner, I ordered a second Dos XX beer.  My beer was brought to me by Allison, with a smile on her face.

Photo:  Close-up of my main plate; note the beautiful presentation.  The photo looks good, but trust me, the dinner was even better!

Pedro's Mexican Grill serves delicious Mexican cuisine.  If you close your eyes, and you take a bite, you'd almost think you were in Piedras Negras or Cd. Acuna; the food is that good.  The service is super-friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is priceless.

You may not think of Elk City, and Oklahoma when you think about Mexican food, but think again, and think: Pedro's Mexican Grill, located in Elk City, Oklahoma.
