Great Mexican dining awaits you at Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant, located in historic Gold-rush-era town of Mariposa, on your way to Yosemite National Park.  Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant serves delicious Mexican cuisine, and the servers are super friendly, and the dining is "Mariposa casual."

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little after 5 o'clock in the afternoon... Monday, August 29, 2022, and it's time to enjoy an amazing Mexican dinner at Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant, located in the historic Gold-rush-era town of Mariposa, CA.

Photo:  The sign outside the restaurant, on California State Highway 140 lets you know that the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The restaurant opens at 08:00 every day of the week, so it's a great breakfast choice.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member, along with a "please wait to be seated" sign.  There are lots of '49'er artifacts decorating the restaurant, as Mariposa - "butterfly" in Spanish - is a historic town that dates from the California "gold rush," 150+ years ago.

Photo:  The dining room is open, and offers plenty of friendly dining.  The furniture is simple, as it's tables and chairs, and the decor hints of Mexico.

Photo:  You can get a peek into the kitchen and watch the talented staff working their magic.

Photo:  Micha, our friendly hostess, takes Michael's dinner order, as a friendly group of local construction workers enjoy dinner in the comfortable dining room.

Photo:  Just one page of the five menu pages offered at the restaurant is "Plantillos Mexicanos" which offers full plates of Mexican favorites.

Photo:  Delicious, in-house-made salsa and fried corn tortilla chips arrived as an "appetizer" to our dinner.  Simply delicious!  The chips and salsa were "on the house" which worked well with us.

Photo:  Our amazingly friendly hostess, Micha brought our appetizers to our table with a smile. I went for a "Side Salad," while Michael opted for a "Vegetarian Toastada."  The appetizers were amazing, and Micha's friendly service fit right in.

Photo:  My dinner of "Mar Y Tierra" included a side salad, and I was simply AMAZED by the "side salad" my dinner included, as the salad could have almost made for the main course of dinner.

Shredded Mexican cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and seasoned croutons... what a salad!  This delicious salad was topped off with a side of ranch dressing, which made for perfect dipping.

Photo:  Michael chose a "Vegetarian Toastada" as his choice of side, to enjoy with his dinner.  Such a "side," as it could almost make for the meal!

It's interesting to note that my "regular camera" was in the "camera hospital," so all photos were taken with my iPhone 12, which is both good/bad in my opinion.

Photo:  Meet Micha, our friendly hostess, who brought our dinner to us with a smile, and treated us like royalty.

Photo:  Michael and I are ready to enjoy our delicious dinner at Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant, located in Mariposa, CA.  Thanks, Micha for taking the photo!

Photo:  From the "Patillos Mexicanos" section of the menu, Michael went with "Fajitas," which the menu describes as, "Beef or chicken grilled, sauteed with bell peppers, onions and tomato."  Refried beans topped with Mexican cheese, along with rice came along as a side dish.

Photo:  From the "Patillos Mexicanos" section of the menu, I went with the "Mar Y Tierra," which combines the best of both worlds:  Land and sea.  You can't go wrong with such a combination!

"Mar Y Tierra" starts with steak... carne asada, marinated, thinly sliced, juicy, tender and ... delicious.  Combine shrimp... Don Ruben's Mexican Restaurant gives you plenty of shrimp and carne asada, all seasoned, marinated and perfectly cooked on the grill, complete with grill marks.  The menu simply describes this amazing combination as, "Grilled beef steak, topped with grilled onions.  Served along with grilled shrimp."  Along with the grilled shrimp, I went with all choices the menu offered, including refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, a small side salad, along with a slice of lemon.  Delicious!

The authentic Mexican cuisine at Don Rubuen's Mexican Restaurant is as good as it gets, the staff is super friendly, and the dining atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable.  When you're in the small Sierra Nevada foothill town of Mariposa, and you're in the mood for delicious Mexican food, enjoy fine dining at Don Reuben's Mexican Restaurant located in Mariposa, CA.
