I've never had the pleasure of visiting Ireland - it's on my "things to do list" - but you can get a taste of the "Emerald Island" by visiting O'Mally's Irish Pub, in Old Sacramento, as I did on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

Photo:  O'Mally's Irish Pub, which advertises "Pub & Eats," is located in a brick, Victorian-era building in Old Sacramento, which is a designated historical landmark.  Note the board sidewalks!

Photo:  As you walk in the front door, the full-service bar is to your left, and the dining room is to your right.  The pub is paneled with dark wood, and features lots of photos, posters and Irish artifacts.  Note the poster, in the upper right of the photo that reads, "There are no strangers hers, only friends that we haven't met."  Well said, as O'Mally's Irish Pub is a friendly place to relax, chat, enjoy good food, and delicious Irish beer, on tap.

Photo:  My friendly server, Anna, delivers an IPA, "India Pale Ale," on tap from the bar.  IPA is very "hoppy," so if you're a fan of hops, and Hopalong Cassidy, you'll love IPA.  Personally, I'm a fan of "Hoppy, Gene and me," so IPA fits into my agenda.  Any beer on tap at O'Mally's serves me well...

Photo:  Smiling Anna delivers my order of Irish Tacos, with a smile.  Irish tacos?  Yes, as it's an exclusive dish of O'Mally's Irish Pub, and it has really put the Irish pub scene in Sacramento on the map.  Such a great person and a great server!  Thanks for being so friendly, Anna!

Photo:  My friendly server, Anna, took my photo, as I sit at my table, enjoying a glass of "Harp" dark Irish beer, and my lunch of Irish tacos.  Photo clearly shows the atmosphere of this comfortable Irish pub in Old Sacramento.

Photo:  What is an Irish taco?  Well, you take a flour tortilla, stuff it with shredded corn beer, and add a mix of shredded green and red cabbage, carrots, and onions.  Garnish it with a tangy delicious dressing of unknown origin, and you have an Irish taco.  Anna told me this is the signature dish of O'Mally's, as I've never seen this anywhere else.  Delicious, and quite an interesting lunch, especially when accompanied with good ol' Irish beer...

Great Irish pub atmosphere, Anna provided great service, the Irish Tacos are a signature dish of O'Mally's Irish Pub, and the beer was great.  O'Mally's Irish Pub is a great place to "hang," and to enjoy great food, and great people.
