Sunrise Waffle Shop, located in the city of Rancho Cordova, in the greater Sacramento area, is the sort of restaurant that breakfast lovers dream of, as every breakfast base or classic diner "comfort food" is covered.  This restaurant is the sort of diner that breakfast lovers dream about...

As with all reviews  I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's 9 o'clock in the morning, Sunday, March 21, 2021, and I've arrived at Sunrise Waffle Shop, located in Rancho Cordova, CA, to enjoy a great breakfast with good friends.

Photo:  The dining room is spacious, and features mostly tables, but booths line the walls,  It's totally "old school" with a counter and a window to the kitchen, where staff picks up orders.  The decor is plain, simple and to the point.  The atmosphere is pure hospitality, for a "comfort food" diner experience.

I arrived a little before 09:00 in the morning to a lightly seated dining room, but a half hour later when my friends arrived... my how things changed!

Photo:  The first page of the menu offers waffles, as expected, as Sunrise Waffle Shop specializes in waffles.  At the bottom of the page is the "Old Fashioned" section of the breakfast menu, which truly grabbed my attention, especially with the selection of the "Tree Eggs and 8-oz NY Steak."  But... I was seduced by the white board, at the entrance, with today's "Special."

Photo:  As I entered the restaurant, a white board advertised today's specials.  New York steak and eggs for $11.99 sounded great!  Soup of the day was Minestrone, which sounded good for lunch, but I was here to enjoy breakfast.

Photo:  As expected, the dining room was very busy by about 09:30 on this Sunday morning.

Photo:  Busy dining room on this mid-Sunday morning, March 21, 2021.

Photo:  Staff was very busy, providing outstanding service to the many hungry diners.  Note the orders at the kitchen window, ready to be set on to tables.  The staff member to the right is busy preparing "to go" orders, as there seem to be some folks still reluctant to enjoy their meal in a dining room, in the company of others.

Photo:  Friendly Sarah, who happens to be a personal friend of Claudia, smiles, as she picks up an order from the window to the kitchen.  Sunrise Waffle Shop is an "old school" diner in every way.

Photo:  Meet Laurie, our amazingly friendly server, who brings our orders to us with a smile.  This lady has talent, as she was able to bring our three plates at the same time.

Photo:  Claudia takes a photo of her food, as her husband, Gerry, looks on.  I met Claudia at an eating contest a few years ago, and like me, Claudia is a stone-cold, total "foodie" who loves to eat, and loves everything.

Photo:  Laurie brings our bowls of biscuit and gravy.  Claudia and I ordered the "New York Steak" special, including biscuit and gravy, as our tastes are very similar.

Photo:  Thanks, Laurie, for snapping our photo, as I prepare to enjoy an amazing breakfast with my friends Claudia and Gerry.

Photo:  Gerry went with the "Country Scramble" from the "Skillet Breakfast" section of the breakfast menu.  The menu describes with amazing offering as "Buttermilk biscuits piled with cheddar cheese, country sausage patty, or diced ham, scrambled eggs and our country gravy.  Gerry went with the sausage patty... wise choice. He loved it!

Photo:  From the "Old Fashioned" section of the extensive breakfast menu, I went with the "Three Eggs New York Steak," as it's 8-ounces of steak goodness, and grilled to your taste.  The menu posts that "All breakfasts served with your choice of hash browns or country potatoes, biscuits and gravy or toast, butter and jelly."

As I entered the restaurant, I noticed the white board that a advertised "New York Steak and 2 Eggs" for $11.99, so that sounded great to me.  I can skip an egg if I can save a couple bucks.

The foundation of the meal was the steak, and my 8-oz New York steak arrived grilled medium, exactly as I'd requested.  Sunrise Waffle Shop will cook your steak to order, and the friendly server will ask you how you prefer your steak cooked. My steak was juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly to medium, with just a hint of "pink" inside, but seared on the outside to lock in the tender goodness, and cooked perfectly... medium.  Such a great breakfast steak!

By ordering today's "Special" I skimped on a couple bucks, but skimped on one egg, but I was able to live with that. I ordered my eggs over easy, and my eggs arrived perfectly cooked, to order, over easy.  A trademark of a chef with talent is to be able to cook eggs over easy, exactly as ordered, and the chef at Sunrise Waffle Shop truly is a master at his or her craft.

Hash brown potatoes were superior, as they were crispy golden brown on the outside, and tender, chewy white inside, and weren't salty or greasy.  Just plain delicious!  The slice of orange added to the presentation, and as my usual protocol, I gobbled it down.

Rather than toast, I ordered biscuit and gravy... duh?  You get one, in-house made biscuit, covered in gravy, with enough gravy to dip pieces of steak, or bits of hash brown potatoes into.  The biscuit was fresh, delirious, and covered with creamy, sausage gravy, with lots of small chunks of sausage, to add bit of a "southern" taste to this outstanding breakfast.

In 2021, a New York steak and eggs breakfast for $11.99?  Yes... at Sunrise Waffle Shop, in Rancho Cordova, CA. The breakfast is not only priced right, but it's delicious!

Photo:  From the "Specials" listed on the white board, Claudia ordered a nearly identical breakfast to mine, complete with her steak cooked medium, eggs over easy, along with biscuits and gravy.  Differing from me, she ordered country potatoes rather than hash browns.

I noted her country potatoes were cut on the "chunky" side, seasoned, and included onion and bell pepper.  Grilled to perfection, just the way country potatoes should be grilled.  My friend Claudia told me her country potatoes were amazing, and she said the same thing about her breakfast.

For breakfast lovers, Sunrise Waffle Shop has all bases covered, as the menu features a wide array of all your breakfast favorites, the staff is super friendly, and the dining room is large, clean and very comfortable.

Breakfast lovers... rejoice!  Enjoy life at Sunrise Waffle Shop, located in Rancho Cordova, CA.
