The "town" of Truckee is a paradise for those who love the outdoors, and is truly a "four-season" place, where you can enjoy an endless variety of leisure activities, anytime of the year.  Outdoor recreation in the Truckee area is endless... but if outdoor activities aren't your interest... what about fine dining?  Breakfast or lunch? .. Wagon Train Cafe, located on Donner Pass Road has you covered, as they serve fine breakfast and lunch, every day of the week, starting at 05:30 in the morning.

As with all reviews  I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little before 8 in the morning, Tuesday, June 09, 2020, and I've arrived at Wagon Train Cafe, located in downtown Truckee, to enjoy an amazing breakfast.

Photo:  As I paused at the front door, I noticed two things that sent me to nirvana.  The first thing I noticed was the pained sign on the door advertises that "Breakfast Served All Day..." Since I'm Navy, I LOVE breakfast, and any restaurant that serves breakfast all day is a friend of mine.

The second, and most important... an NRA sticker on the door, as in National Rifle Association, the group that stands for freedom, and our Second Amendment Rights for all law-abiding citizens.  Like the owners of this fine restaurant, I am a lifelong member of the NRA, as I support freedom, and the right to carry a weapon.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the dining room is very rustic, comfortable and "country."  Wagon Train Cafe is a favorite of the Truckee locals, and is a gathering place for those who enjoy a fine breakfast, and friendly company.

As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by the friendly staff, and the local diners, and as soon you're seated, you'll be part of the extended family.

Photo:  The Town of Truckee is located at the 6000 foot level, just a few miles east on Donner Summit, and the area offers outstanding outdoor recreation, including skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, big game hunting, and countless other activities.  It looks like "Bo Billy Bob" wound up at the "receiving" end of a bullet, and now resides on the wall, along with a few pals.  Note the photos of various Truckee High School varsity football teams from "back in the day."  Truckee is an "all-American" place!

Photo:  Wagon Train Cafe features a small counter, located at the rear of the restaurant,  My friendly server, Chevon, is picking up an order, from the window to the kitchen.

To complete the rustic atmosphere, traditional country music, "Willie's Place," from SiriusXM satellite radio is playing the background.

Photo:  The "Good Morning - Breakfast Served All Day" section of the menu offers something for every breakfast lover.  I scanned the menu, but I kept coming back on "Lumber Jack," as like something that I could not resist.  I'm an absolute sucker when it comes to biscuits and gravy for breakfast...

Photo:  Meet Chevon, my amazingly friendly server, who brings my "Lumber Jack" breakfast to me with a smile. Not only is Chevon a great server, but she's a super friendly person with an amazing personality.

Photo:  I'm all "smiles" as Chevon snaps my photo, before I enjoy my delicious "Lumber Jack" breakfast.  Wagon Train Cafe offers a few tables outdoor on the patio, in front of the restaurant, and since today was a warm, sunning morning, I chose to dine outside, and enjoy the sweet mountain air along with my breakfast.

Photo:  From the "Good Morning - Breakfast Served All Day!" section of the breakfast menu, I ordered the "Lumber Jack," which features just about everything you could ever hope to enjoy for breakfast... along with a separate bowl of biscuit and gravy.

Wagon Train Cafe isn't a "fast food" restaurant, but my delicious, perfectly cooked breakfast arrived FAST... in only about fifteen minutes after placing my order.

Photo:  From the "Good Morning - Breakfast Served All Day!" section of the breakfast menu, I ordered the "Lumber Jack..."  consider that breakfast is my FAVORITE meal to enjoy at a restaurant... how could I ever order anything else?

This amazing breakfast platter includes three thick bacon slices, along with a juicy sausage link showcase this amazing breakfast.  Note the juicy sausage link was place on top of the two eggs, perfectly cooked "over easy," as per my order.  Along with the bacon, sausage and eggs, "Lumber Jack" includes a side of hash brown potatoes, perfectly golden crispy on the outside, and chewy, delicious inside.  Not shown in this photo, but the biscuit and creamy sausage gravy made for an outstanding side.

You'll enjoy your breakfast... and you'll leave with a smile on your face, along with a full stomach, as the breakfast is not only delicious, but the portion is generous.

Such a delicious breakfast, enjoyed outdoors, on a pleasant Tuesday morning in beautiful downtown Truckee, CA! The weather was perfect, the breakfast was amazing, and the staff at Wagon Train Cafe are as friendly as it gets.
