Jasper's Giant Burgers is a small chain of four restaurants, located in the greater Sacramento, CA metro area, that specializes in many varieties of burgers, but the menu also includes hot dogs, sandwiches, along with other "diner" cuisine. Jasper's isn't a "fast food" restaurant, as you actually sit down to dine, but other dining options exist, such as take-out or a couple of the services that will bring your food to your door.
As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.
Photo: It's just a little after noon on Friday, December 20, 2019, and we've arrived at the Rancho Cordova, CA location of Jasper's Giant Burgers to enjoy a lunch of... what else ... burgers, at this great burger restaurant.
Jasper's Giant Burgers is a small chain of four restaurants in the greater Sacramento area, with locations in Gold River, Fair Oaks, Woodland, and Rancho Cordova, where we're preparing to enjoy lunch.
Photo: Jasper's Giant Burgers uses what I call the "taqueria format," when it comes to the way you order, pay for, and enjoy your meal.
You walk up to the counter, and make your selection from the overhead menu, posted above the "Order Here" station. There is no printed menu, so you make your selection from above. You give your selection to the hostess/cashier, pay for it, and in return, you'll receive a number. You sit at any available table, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you with a friendly smile by the hostess/cashier.
Photo: I'm in line to place our order, as the friendly hostess/cashier helps the gal in front of me, who ultimately "photo'd" up to the duty to take the posted photo of my dining companion and I. Jasper's Giant Burgers offers a wide variety of soft drinks, along with four "craft" beers on tap, along with "mainstream" beer in bottles. I'm really simple in my tastes, so I opted for a bottled Budweiser beer.
Photo: The menu is posted above the order counter and offers burgers, hot dogs, "healthier burgers," chicken, fish, kids meals, "House Special Item Combos," and a lot more. There are no printed menus, so be ready to choose your menu from the overhead posted menu.
Photo: The dining room is clean, modern, and lighted by lots of natural light, thanks to the large windows. It's modern, yet is "faux retro" with a definite "old school" diner feel, thanks to the chrome stools, fixtures, and the checkered floor tiles.
Photo: Jasper's features a large, "wrap around" counter, where you can sit and enjoy your delicious meal, and features a great view into the open kitchen, where you can watch the chef at work.
Photo: The gal at the counter is also our server, and she was very busy today, on this early Friday afternoon. She brings our order of a "Mexicali Burger," a "Cheese Burger" and an order of fries to us wish a smile. Our order arrived less than 15 minutes after placing it. Jasper's Giant Burgers isn't a "fast food" restaurant, but it's an amazing restaurant that serves quality food in a timely manner.
Photo: We're table #6, and our server places our order on our table, ready for us to enjoy.
Photo: Thanks for a nearby diner for taking our photo, as my "foodie" friend Kim and I prepare to enjoy our delicious lunch at Jasper's Giant Burgers.
Photo: I went with a "Mexicali Burger," as I love anything "Mexican," especially when it comes to a burger. My friend and I split an order of fries.
The "Mexicali Burger" begins with a one-third pound beef patty fried medium. If you're a "rate type," or you're on the "well done" side, just ask, and the patty will be cooked the way you want it. The patty is fresh, lightly seasoned, juicy and cooked perfectly, which is the foundation of any burger.
The beef patty is placed on a lightly-toasted sesame seed bun, which is fresh and chewy, and the burger features the perfect meat-to-bun ratio, which is one of the benchmarks of a great burger. I noted the only condiment applied to the burger - besides the light butter used to toast the bun - was mayonnaise, so if mayonnaise isn't your "thing," you'd best inquire as you place your order.
Veggies included lettuce, sliced red onion and sliced tomato, placed together, under the meat patty. On top of the meat patty was a slice of perfectly melted "American" cheese, along with slices of jalapeņo peppers, which gave this burger the "Mexican," and the "Mexicali." The jalapeņo peppers added lots of taste, just enough "heat" to make the burger SING! ... along with TONS of delicious flavor. Naturally, the burger was delivered fresh and warm from the kitchen.
You add all ingredients together, and the "Mexicali Burger" is a taste sensation. The ingredients are fresh, the bun and patty are perfectly cooked and arrive hot, and the fresh veggies arrive cold, which makes for a sensational burger. Head over south of the "burger border" to Jasper's Giant Burgers and enjoy a delicious "Mexicali Burger."
The fries were perfectly deep fried to a crisp, light, golden brown, and some of them included potato peels, which we love. Great fries! The fries were not at all greasy, lightly salted, and we actually added a little salt to them, which is a good thing, as salt-to-taste can easily be added to fries. Our order of fries made a perfect side to lunch!
Photo: Kim ordered a "Cheeseburger" and it was essentially similar to my "Mexicali Burger," without the sliced jalapeņo peppers. Everything I posted about my burger can be said about hers. She loved it, and I did too, as she couldn't finish it all, and I "helped" her out, as any good friend, and fellow burger lover would do.
Jasper's Giant Burgers serves a great "old school" burger and fries in a modern, yet retro-decor dining room. The burgers are delicious, the price is right, which makes Jasper's Giant Burgers a winning "burger combination" for all burger lovers to enjoy, in the greater Sacramento area.
