Hot Off The Griddle is relatively new to the Rocklin/Placer County dining scene, opening back in June, 2023, after purchasing the former Barn Burner Cafe.  Hot Off The Griddle made some minor changes to the decor, made major changes to the menu, but kept a nearly identical format of great breakfast and lunch, served by friendly staff.

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little past the 07:00 in the morning opening time on Christmas eve, Sunday, December 24, 2023. What a better way to begin Christmas eve day than to begin the day by enjoying an amazing breakfast at a fine restaurant? You know you're in for a breakfast treat when you visit a restaurant that's open for breakfast and lunch only... and today... it was Hot Off The Griddle, located in Rocklin, CA.

The Rocklin location is the third link in a small chain of three stores, all located in the greater Sacramento area. The Natomas and Orangevale locations opened back in 2017, and the Rocklin location opened in June of this year.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the small counter and the open kitchen and preparation area.  On this Christmas eve, the dining room was decorated for the season.

Photo:  The dining room is very spacious, modestly furnished, and very welcoming.  The double doors lead out to the large patio.

Photo:  Back on Friday, November 03, 2017, my wife and I dined at BarnBurner, which was the predecessor to Hot Off The Griddle.  BarnBurner closed back in March, 2023, and Hot Off The Griddle bought the restaurant, redecorated the dining room and the patio, and opened for business in June.  They've been serving delicious breakfast and lunch ever since...

Photo:  A section of the breakfast menu and the "Burgers" selections from the lunch section.  The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, and anything listed on the menu is available any time the restaurant is open.  So if you're craving a cheeseburger for breakfast, you're in business!

Photo:  The patio is very spacious and charming, but since the temperature was in the mid-30's, I elected to dine inside.

Photo:  The kitchen is open, so it's easy to watch the talented chef preparing your meal.  On this early Christmas eve morning, besides the staff, I had the restaurant to myself, but I was assured by my hostess by mid morning, the dining room would be full.

Photo:  There are a couple video monitors that were tuned for advertising the Rocklin location, along with the other two locations.

Photo:  Each table was set with an array of very basic condiments.  I especially love the Cholula hot sauce, as it's perfect with scrambled eggs.

Photo:  Meet Tiana, my amazingly friendly hostess who brought me breakfast to me with a smile.  She and I enjoyed pleasant conversation and she treated me like family.  My breakfast was brought to me very quickly, in only about 10 minutes after I placed my order.

Photo:  Tiana snapped my photo as I was getting ready to enjoy my "2, Two, Too" breakfast.  Since I was driving, I had to forgo a beer and simply enjoy a glass of ice water.  I rarely drink coffee at restaurants, as there's always plenty of it every morning at home.

Photo:  From the "2, Two, Too" section of the breakfast menu, I went with sausage, scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy.  The menu describes this as, "2, Two, Too" are served with two eggs and your choice of bacon, sausage or ham.  The "Too" choices are French toast, waffle, pancake or biscuits and gravy.  Biscuits and gravy was a simple choice for me!

For meat, my choice was sausage, and Tiana offered me the choice between links or a patty; I sent with links.  The sausage links were on the short side, but were quite fat, perfectly grilled, and simply delicious.  Since no potatoes were included with this breakfast, I went with scrambled eggs, which are "standalone" delicious without potatoes. Like the sausage links, my eggs were cooked to perfection.  The chef truly has talent.

Biscuits and gravy is a great description, as the breakfast included TWO biscuits, split in half and covered with a generous portion of country gravy.  The biscuits were fresh, flaky on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.  I assume the biscuits were made in-house, as they were delicious and amazingly fresh.

The gravy was a delicious sausage-based country gravy, which was thick, rich and like the rest of my breakfast, simply delicious.  About halfway through my breakfast, Tiana came over and asked me if I'd like more gravy - count me in! - went into the kitchen, and returned with a small bowl of extra gravy.  That was a nice touch!

The breakfast was simply delicious, as everything was fresh, and cooked to order, and very filling, as I didn't eat anything else until dinner.  You truly will be satisfied when you enjoy breakfast at Hot Off The Griddle!

The breakfast was simply amazingly delicious, the dining room was comfortable, and the service given by Talia was fast and friendly.  Hot Off The Griddle serves great food, and keeps the tradition of a fine breakfast restaurant alive and well in Rocklin, CA.
