Mid June 2023, La Placita Taqueria y Panaderia opened with little fuss, fanfare or advertizing and began offering delicious Mexican cuisine, including breakfast, beginning at 07:00 in the morning, along with a bakery that opens at 05:00 every morning.  Such a welcome addition to the Roseville, CA dining scene!

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  La Placita Taqueria y Panaderia is located in Roseville, CA on Cirby Way, not far off busy Interstate 80.  The restaurant is open every day of the week and serves fine Mexican cuisine.  There is bakery co-located and under the same management as the restaurant.

Photo:  It's a little before 09:00 in the morning, Wednesday, February 28, 2024, and I'm in the mood to enjoy some of the delicious Mexican cuisine this fine restaurant offers.  The dining room is very spacious and lightly decorated.

Does this dining room look familiar?  Until around 2015, this was Susie's Country Oaks Cafe, who moved around the corner to a much larger location.  The restaurant sat idle until La Placita took over, in spring 2023.

Photo:  The dining room on Sunday, September 23, 2007, when the restaurant was Susie's Country Oaks Cafe was a very different place than it is today.  Except for the layout of the doors and windows, you can hardly recognize it as the same dining room as La Placita's.

Photo was taken at nearly the same angle as the previous photo, and you can see how much things have changed.

Photo:  From the rear of the dining room you get a view of how spacious and comfortable it is.

Photo:  Breakfast is posted on a blackboard, on the wall above the window to the kitchen.  Curiously, breakfast isn't listed on the printed menu.  Click on the photo or THIS LINK to see the printed menu the restaurant offers.

Photo:  Looking into the kitchen through the order window, I was able to watch the talented chef at work.  The restaurant is "old school" as orders are written on an order pad and placed on a revolving wheel, to relay to the kitchen, similar to a 1950's diner.

Daily specials along with breakfast choices are posted on black boards on the wall above the kitchen.

Photo:  After I placed my order, I enjoyed a basket of tortilla chips, along with a small cup of in-house made salsa. Such delicious munchies!

Photo:  As I was waiting for my order to arrive, I walked to the co-located panaderia - Mexican bakery - to watch a staff member place a freshly baked pan of pan dulce - Mexican sweet bread - on to a cart.  The bakery is separated from the restaurant by a wall, but shares the same kitchen and ownership.  The bakery opens every morning at 05:00.

Photo:  Meet my friendly hostess, Maria, who brought my breakfast to me with a smile.  I think she was a little surprised that I wanted to take her photo, but it was OK with her.

Service was super fast, as my breakfast was delivered to my table in less than 15 minutes after I placed it.

Photo:  I'm ready to enjoy an amazing breakfast at La Placita Taqueria y Panaderia of chorizo and eggs on this Wednesday morning.  Thanks to my hostess, Maria, who took my photo.  Note the corn tortillas are wrapped in aluminum foil to keep them warm and moist.

Like all tables in the fine restaurant, my table was set with a great selection of Mexican condiments, but since my breakfast was so standalone delicious, no condiments were needed.

Photo:  From the "Breakfast" menu, I went with "Chorizo con Huevo."  I was given the choice of a "plate" or a "burrito" and I went with a plate, along with an order of corn tortillas.

The main attraction of this delicious Mexican breakfast was a generous portion of flavorful chorizo sausage, mixed with eggs, which is a tradition breakfast favorite of northern Mexico.  During my countless trips to Mexico, along the many breakfasts that I've had the pleasure to enjoy, chorizo and eggs has always been on the menu, and this fantastic breakfast was as good as it gets.

Mexican rice, along with refried beans and a small salad were included with the breakfast.  The salad was nothing special, as it was simply shredded lettuce, diced tomato, diced onion and cilantro.  The salad didn't have any dressing, but who puts dressing on a breakfast salad?  The salad added a refreshing touch to the breakfast and allowed me to think that I was actually eating healthy.

The rice was good, but pretty much what you'd expect at any fine Mexican restaurant, and made for a great side. The refried beans... oh the beans!  Simply delicious!  The beans were creamy, yet there were some chunks, and you could taste the LARD, which always gives superior refried beans a unique and delicious taste.  The beans were topped with melted Mexican cheese.

I opted for corn tortillas - you can also go with flour tortillas if you prefer - and I received a generous stack of four warm tortillas, wrapped in aluminum foil, which made for great dipping and to scoop every bit of goodness from the plate.

My only criticism - albeit it minor - is the menu lists both imported and Mexican beer, but when I asked my hostess for a Modelo beer, she said they didn't serve beer.  This restaurant is "dry," which seems like a pity, as beer really goes well with a delicious Mexican breakfast.  Oh well... at least I saved myself five bucks!

La Placita Taqueria y Panaderia serves a delicious, authentic Mexican breakfast!  I'm a little confused exactly when breakfast is served, and when the restaurant actually opens - why didn't I ask - but I believe you can begin to enjoy food at 07:00 every day of the week.  On my next visit, I'll be sure to ask...

The fine Mexican breakfast I enjoyed was simply delightful, the dining was comfortable and the service was fast and friendly.  For fine Mexican cuisine, along with an assortment of baked goods, check out La Placita Taqueria y Panaderia, located in Roseville, CA.  Fine dining in the Gold Country, in the heart of Placer County!
