The fact is that almost every sit-down restaurant sells burgers, and almost every burger is good.  What sets apart a good burger from a superior burger?  Is it the fresh bun that stays together when you eat the burger?  Perfectly cooked meat?  Condiments?  Or, perhaps it's the service, or the atmosphere?  On your way to Lake Tahoe, as you're passing through El Dorado Hills, and you're in the mood for a superior burger, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Relish Burger Bar, just off Highway 50, on the way to Lake Tahoe.

As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  Relish Burger Bar is located in the El Dorado Hills "Town Center," which is an upscale collection of shopping, restaurants and entertainment venues.  The restaurant is just off Highway 50, and makes for a good place to stop and enjoy a superior burger on the way to Lake Tahoe.

It's late Saturday morning, April 29, 2017, a beautiful, warm spring morning, and it's a perfect time to enjoy an outstanding burger.

Photo:  The inside dining room is very comfortable, and has the feel of a sports bar, including television monitors, and a full-service bar.

Photo:  My server, Tim, tells me about the full service bar.  Since I was dining alone, he suggested that I sit at the bar, but since the temperature was in the mid-70's, I preferred to enjoy the warm spring morning on their lovely patio.  It's just past the 11:00 AM opening time, and I seem to be the first customer, as I had the restaurant all to myself.

Photo:  The "Signature" burger portion of the menu.  If you're not interested in a premium burger, you can order the "Relish Burger," which is a basic burger, for a basic price.  All burgers include your choice of fries, onion rings, or potato salad.  Choices... choices... choices...

Yes, the burgers may seem to be a tad on the pricey side, no wonder, as Relish Burger Bar is absolutely stunning in every way and the location of the restaurant is very upscale..  Between the great service, the stuffing atmosphere, and the quality burgers, the prices seem like a bargain.

Photo:  The patio is absolutely stunning!  Since it was such a lovely day, I couldn't resist enjoying my burger on the patio.  When the weather turns chilly, the patio is heated with large propane heaters.

Photo:  The patio also features a full service bar, but since it was shortly after 11 in the morning, the bar wasn't in use.  Note the table to the right that includes its own propane fired fire pit.  Relish Burger Bar is deluxe in every way.

Photo:  My friendly server, Tim, brings my "The Hills Bacon Cheeseburger" to my table with a smile.  Tim is a nice guy, and an outstanding server, who checked up on my burger progress several times, but was never pushy or intrusive.  He also refilled my Coke a couple of times, which worked for me.  Eating a large burger makes for thirsty work.

Photo:  Thanks, Tim, for snapping my photo, as I prepare to dig in, and enjoy a delicious cheeseburger.

Photo:  My "The Hills Bacon Cheeseburger" and the mountain of fries that are included.  I looked long and hard at the menu, but settled on this choice, as there is nothing that I love more than bacon on my burger.

For starters, the fries were cooked perfectly, as they were golden brown on the outside, chewy tender on the inside, with just enough salt to enhance the delicious taste, yet not enough to overpower the fries.  The fries were delicious, and really didn't need ketchup, but I poured a small amount on the side of the plate for dipping, as, frankly, I like ketchup with fries.  It brings out the 8-year old in me.

The burger... Amazing!  The bun was fresh, lightly toasted, and held together until the last bite.  You can order your meat cooked the way you prefer - I prefer medium - and my meat arrived perfectly cooked.  I'm not sure if the meat was grilled, but it tasted like it, and was delicious.  If you like meat, you've come to the right place, as the patty is a half-pound, so you'll walk away full.  The Applewood bacon and pepper jack cheese were wonderful, but the Sierra Nevada spicy brown mustard really made the burger!  The lettuce and tomato were fresh and juicy.  I noted a perfect balance between burger and bun, and each condiment complimented and enhanced the burger.  This burger was so delicious, I didn't bother applying mustard, as I just ate it as Tim presented it.  Such a great burger!

Photo:  The "Hills Bacon Cheeseburger," close-up, and in all of its glory.  I get hungry just looking at this photo of the best burger served in El Dorado Hills.
