The CA4WDC Sierra Trek event has been in business for 56 years, and is the largest event of the four wheel drive community in northern California.  This amazing four wheel drive event is held at Meadow Lake, which is both a reservoir and a campground, located in the Tahoe National Forest, northwest of Truckee, CA.

Photo:  My first look at Meadow Lake, about 11:00 in the morning on Tuesday, August 08, 2023.  I'm about 4 miles away, and about 20 minutes away from base camp.

Meadow Lake is at the 7300' elevation in the Tahoe National Forest, about an hour drive away from Truckee, CA, which would be the nearest town of any size.  Can you say remote?

Photo:  it's about noon, Tuesday, August 08, 2023, and I've set up camp at Sierra Trek 2023.  The event didn't officially start until around Thursday at noon, but I always like arrive early and grab my favorite camping spot.

Photo:  I'm set up and am enjoying the beautiful Tuesday afternoon.

Photo:  Dinner tonight... I'm happy!

Photo:  Dinner on the camp stove, cooking in the cast iron frying pan.  I like to keep things simple and salt and pepper work great for seasoning when I'm camping.

Photo:  Dinner tonight... can you say Mexican?  Potatoes, diced ham, jalapeņo pepper, onion, along with canned green enchilada sauce.  Dinner was simply delicious!

Photo:  Wednesday morning, August 09, 2023, and it's a beautiful morning at Meadow Lake.

Photo:  Good Wednesday morning, as I'm working on breakfast.

Photo:  Wednesday evening dinner, August 09, 2023.  Canned chili beans enhanced with a jalapeņo, pepper, fresh onion and garlic.  This worked out to be a great camping dinner.

Photo:  Thursday morning, August 10, 2023, and it's a simple breakfast, as Sierra Trek will be officially serving dinner tonight.  Vienna sausages and eggs... what could be better for breakfast?

Photo:  Summit City Saloon opened up at noon on Thursday, and I was treated to friendly service, along with great shots of whiskey.  Click on the link to check it out.

Photo:  Careflight, a medical service helicopter, touching down on Friday morning, as part of the vendor show for the event..

Photo:  Friday night bonfire... what could be better?  Individual camp fires are not allowed at the event, but Sierra Trek features a huge bonfire every night, which is cheery and social.

Photo:  The Friday night bonfire is alive and well and draws a crowd.  The fire is always a welcome event at Sierra Trek.

Photo:  The ever present water truck, which is a fixture of Sierra Trek and helps to keep the dust down on the dirt roads around base camp.

Photo:  My camp... late afternoon Friday 11, 2023, after Tom has arrived and set up his tent next to mine.

Photo:  It's late Friday afternoon, and the Sierra Treasure Hunters are providing delicious chicken and ribs on this Friday evening.  Food at Sierra Trek is simply amazing, and the Friday evening dinner, thanks to the Sierra Treasure Hunters never fails to disapoint your dining pleasure..

Photo:  Early Friday afternoon, the Sacramento-area band, "Diva Rox" began an early performance and a sound check before the main event, after dinner, on Friday evening.

Photo:  Melissa... the lead singer of the band, shows her stuff and showcases her amazing vocal talents.

Photo:  This lady can sing and she makes old school rock 'n roll music come alive at Sierra Trek.

Photo:  Diva Rox on late Friday afternoon, with "old school" rock and roll music as good as it gets.

Photo:  Friday evening performance.  The band played great music until midnight.

Photo:  Diva Rox... a Sacramento are band who play some of the best "old school" rock 'n roll music on the planet. The ban is a regular at Sierra Trek and is appreciated by four wheelers and people who enjoy great live music.

So many fun and entertaining things to do in camp during the event!  You could easily amuse and entertain yourself by not leaving camp, as when the event begins early Thursday afternoon, there is always something going on.  The Sierra Trek Committee made this a well-planned and fun four wheel drive event!

I enjoyed my stay of five nights at the 56th Sierra Trek, officially held this year from August 10th to the 13th.  I'm already looking forward to next year's event!
